Items people should bring; start collecting these now!
- Work clothes, including sturdy foot wear
- Nice clothes for church
- Sleeping bag, pillow, and camping mattress or pad
- Towel, toiletries
- Bathing suit (don’t know if we’ll get a chance to swim, but maybe)
- Insect repellent and sunscreen
- A refillable water bottle
- Something warm like a fleece or sweater
- Money for about seven (7) meals on the road (normally fast food stops)
- A work belt with a few basic tools: measuring tape, utility knife, pencils, hammer, work gloves
- Optional tools if you have them and can bring them: cordless drill, staple gun, chalk line, saws, other tools. Note: You are responsible for your own tools!
- Fun things like Frisbees, musical instruments, games, cards.
- iPods for personal listening.
Other notes about things to bring (or not):
- We ask that participants not bring laptops; please check with me before packing other technologies. This is a “low-tech” event!
- We will supply hard hats and safety goggles. Safety is important to us!
- If anyone wants to bring a camera or video camera to make a record of our week, please do! It’s great to have afterwards, and some students have used this opportunity to do a school art or writing project. Please bring any special cords your have for your camera(s), in case John would like to upload these to the trip’s blog during the week.
- We like to have people bring bus snacks, especially fruit and non-junk food.
